Community planning board election to be held in March for CV, Pacific Highlands Ranch
The Carmel Valley Community Planning Board (CVCPB) will hold elections in March, 2009 for nine of the 17 seats on the board. Local residents and businesses are encouraged to join the board, which is always looking for new members who are interested in the community and want to keep it a great place to live! There are five Carmel Valley residential seats, two Pacific Highlands Ranch residential seats and two business seats up for election.
The following seats are up for election: 2 Business Seats; the Carmel Residential seats for Neighborhood 1, Neighborhood 3, Neighborhood 5, Neighborhood 6 and Neighborhood 10; and the Pacific Highlands Ranch seats for District 11 and District 12. The bylaws stipulate that residential candidates for the planning board must attend at least two full meetings before the election. The remaining meetings before the elections are on Jan. 13 and Feb. 10 (the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Carmel Valley Library.) All candidates must announce their intention to run at the January or February meeting.
The two business seats are open to anyone who is an owner or employee of a professional, commercial, retail or industrial enterprise doing business within a commercial, agricultural or employment center designated area of Carmel Valley. Business candidates do not have an attendance requirement. For 2009 only, the candidate getting the most votes will be elected to the two-year term and the candidate with the next most votes will be elected to the one-year term.
