Providing The Ranch with Three Decades of Quality Journalism

Two key projects moving ahead

On Feb. 24 we made significant progress on two projects that have been on the drawing boards for several years. At their meeting on the 24th, the County Board of Supervisors formally approved a recommendation to the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) to establish the utility undergrounding district for the Covenant. This is one of the last steps in our efforts to provide a vehicle to our members to underground utility lines and potentially bring additional utilities, such as gas and sewer, to their neighborhoods.
The next step will be a presentation to LAFCO for their approval and then we will begin holding meetings so that our members can become fully informed of how the plan can be put to work by them. It has been a long and “bureaucratic” journey to date but I strongly believe this plan has great potential for enhancing our community. To have a realistic method to get unsightly (and potentially dangerous) utility wires underground and to allow covenant members to bring other utilities into their neighborhoods will be wonderful. I am excited about the positive impact this should have on the Ranch and will continue to push to get this program up and running by the end of June.
At the Supervisors’ meeting on the 24th, they also approved $320,000 in road funds for improving the intersection at La Granada and Via De Santa Fe (by Stumps and the post office). The improvements will visually enhance the intersection, improve traffic flow and, hopefully, help to decrease the back-up of cars in front of the post office.
The county is now cleared to begin the bidding process and should be in a position to start construction within the next few months.
